      Its frustrating dealing with those wire rubbing issues, especially if they're happening with GM vehicles too. great minds think alike, at first i was thinking do i really want to start unplugging things from the column, then i figured well wires shorting out had to be more of an interruption and laying upside down wasn't working out very well, disconnected the battery waiting for a bit just how they instruct with the air bag. so much easier and cleaner. i was able to seal the wires up neatly at that point

    When you can trigger the fault with movement, it's likely some mechanical problem with the wire, in this case the clock spring. Strangely it may be the communication wire, or perhaps a ground/power feed to an internal module. I'm looking forward to the full video!

      You're welcome! sounds frustrating sorry to hear. There could be a few reasons for this issue. Have you checked the battery to ensure it has enough charge? If the battery seems fine, there might be issues with the starter, ignition switch, or even a problem with the security system or natural safety switch. It could be helpful to diagnose the problem a little deeper if you can. then i might be able to confirm direction accurately. not sure where your located, i may be to far to consider towing to and or making the road trip out. Let me know if you need further assistance!

    I have a question for you about an issue on my 2014 Maxima. If I get on the gas, my steering wheel jerks left or right. I have to let go of the wheel and let it happen or it will crash the car. When I let off the gas same thing the steering wheel jerks one way or the other and if you don't let go it will throw you off the road. Its not an alignment or the tires. Have you ever seen a problem like that? Any ideas?

    • @robinsonsauto
      @robinsonsauto 3 дні тому

      that could potentially be dangerous. Here are a few possible causes for the steering wheel jerking when you accelerate or decelerate: Suspension or Steering Components: Issues with suspension components such as worn out tie rods, ball joints, or control arm bushings can cause instability in the steering, especially under load changes like acceleration and deceleration. CV Joints: Worn or damaged Constant Velocity (CV) joints can cause vibrations and unpredictable steering behaviors, especially when accelerating or decelerating. Brake Issues: Problems with the brake calipers or pads can lead to uneven braking force, which might cause the vehicle to pull to one side when braking or accelerating. Drivetrain Issues: Problems with the drivetrain components such as worn out or damaged axle shafts, differential issues, or transmission mounts can also manifest as steering wheel jerking. Electrical or Sensor Issues: Faulty sensors, particularly those related to traction control, stability control, or ABS, could mistakenly apply brakes or reduce engine power, causing sudden steering inputs. Given the nature of the symptoms you've described, it's crucial to have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible.

      @robinsonsauto Thank you for the in-depth response, I do most of my own work and really appreciate it. You've definitely earned a subscriber. My steering rack has been leaking slowly for a while, but I've been topping it up on fluid from how small the leak is. I replaced the driver axle previously and the passenger side is definitely clicking and ready to be done as well. Could a power steering pump going out do the same? Mine has been pretty loud lately. I've been meaning to repair these issues anyways, just need to find the time, but wanted to see if there was anything else I should be looking for. Thanks again man, you're awesome.

  • @mannys9130
    @mannys9130 7 днів тому

    My first suspicion is always that there's a ground fault somewhere. My second guess is something wrong with the power steering module and when it glitches it disrupts coms to everything else downstream on the bus. 🤔 Third guess is that the wiper stalk wiring has chafed and it's shorting in a way that disrupts coms or takes the wiper module/body module offline? Idk this is a weird issue for sure. I'm super curious wtf is causing that!!!
